I am suffering from laundry burn out. I think I have the classic symptoms: I have no desire to complete my daily laundry tasks; I am short tempered with my washer and dryer; fresh, warm sheets do not make me feel any less depressed. Yes, I have the laundry burn out blues. (By the way, it is totally different from having bluing. . . that actually makes your white clothes whiter.)
I am tired of being down on my laundry. After all, it is not going away. I have decided to treat the problem by making some changes in my laundry experience.
First, there is my washer and dryer. No, I am not trading them in. . .they are not that old. However, I am not thrilled at the their efficiency. Yes, they are high efficiency, energy-saving machines, but they are not time efficient. I mean, just look at how long it takes for a typical load to dry.
Yes, it is over an hour. However, it does time out nicely with the washer that takes just two minutes less.
If your doing the math, one load of laundry washed and dried equals two hours of time.
I have decided to resort the clothes to see how many I can wash on the quick wash cycle that only requires 25 minutes. Then, I plan to utilize this drying rack.
I also plan on making a few other renovations to the laundry room including this rack over the door.
I would like to make a much bigger renovation to the laundry room storage, but financially that will have to wait.
Finally, I know that I should be using the mesh laundry bag I already own to make sure my daughter’s socks stay in the washer and dryer. However, I often forget to use it.
My new resolve is to use it more. Plus, I plan to simplify my life with some of these fantastic sock clips.
Hopefully, having the same number of socks from the beginning to end of the laundry will help me feel better. Plus, having pre-sorted socks. . .I mean how great is that? It is a dream come true. My spirits instantly lift just thinking about it.
This is the start of my New Year laundry revival. I plan on getting over my laundry burn out blues before my spring fever hits.
Note: This is part two in my series on laundry. Yes, there is more. I know. . .I can hardly wait as well.
