Why am I trying to be more organic and less chemically-based? First, it seems like the right thing to do. Second, it will be cheaper in the end. Third, I am from the Mid-Ohio Valley.
What does that have to do with it you ask? Where is that you ask? Well, it is an area of West Virginia and Southeastern Ohio that borders the Ohio River. The largest city in the area is Parkersburg, WV.
There is a chemical produced at an area manufacturing facility that is referred to as C8. The full impact of C8 is still not known, but here is a scary book I will recommend if you want to find out more about it and other chemically-based stuff.
It was recommended to me by my sister who heard the authors on a NPR program. She read it and found it compelling.
There have been, and are continuing to be, studies and debates about the impact of C8. This is not the only debatable chemical or bi-product produced in the country or even that area. They all have some kind of impact.
Besides, I have multiple reasons why I am trying to me more environmentally-friendly.
The biggest reason is that I am a mother. I want to do the best I can for my daughter.
My sister has always been the “green” one, but I am slowly getting my act together. Although I know I will never be fully organic and chemical-free (frankly, I don’t even want to try), I will be a better
steward of the Earth.
